Speaker Bios:
Joanna Berry was inspired to leave a career in archaeology and apply to law school at the time when Jason Kenney occupied his prior post as Canada’s Immigration Minister. She has contributed to various migrant rights advocacy initiatives over the past decade, and has worked in the immigration and refugee law sector since 2014. She is presently establishing a new legal consultancy practice, and is also working as a Continuing Education instructor.
Steven graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in June 2017. He commenced Articles at Waldman & Associates the same month He is now an associate at that firm. At Waldman, Steven has gained experience in immigration and refugee law, and has represented clients before the Immigration and Refugee Board and the Federal Court. He was co-counsel in Revell v Canada (MCI), 2019 FCA 262 constitutional litigation. Steven co-authored the paper Citizenship Revocation & the Canadian Bill of Rights with Warda Shazadi Meighen, for the April 2018 CBA Immigration Law Conference.
